The Public Works Department offers a variety of services and programs to Brookfield residents. We take care of all public property, care for our beautiful trees including a Tree Planting. For answers to your questions about these services, click on FAQs.

Public Works Services

Sidewalk Program

Property owners with main sidewalks in front of their homes, apartments and/or businesses are eligible to participate in the shared-cost sidewalk program. In the case of the shared-cost program, if a square of sidewalk need to be placed, by the village and the homeowner share the cost. Requests are taken yearly on a "first come, first served" basis.

Wood Chips are available for gardens and logs for fireplaces are available free, from the Public Works Department. Please call 708-485-7344 extension 403 to arrange for chips.

Snow removal

Brookfield snow regulations are in effect from December 1 to March 31 of each year. After a snowfall of 2 inches or more, residents can check the signs on their block to see on what day and which side of the street they should park. Parking violators are subject to a $20 ticket for each occurrence. Please use your garage or driveway whenever possible.
