The Brookfield Garden Club will be meeting at the British Home, 8700 31st St., Brookfield, Saturday, August 28th, at 9:30 a.m.
Master Gardener Laura will lead the club in a tour of the English Garden and the green house facilities followed by a tour of the

I have been made aware of important information for possible tax flood relief from the IRS. Follow this link

or call the IRS at 1-800-829-3676 ,
request Publication 2194 and select the option of the Illinois Flood related
problems. This publication 2194 refers to possible relief to be
considered by flood victims on their Federal Tax forms.
Please encourage residents to consult a tax professional for assistance
and advice.

2010 Brookfield Garden Contest The Brookfield Beautification Committee sponsored its 3rd annual Garden Contest this summer. The Committee received 21 entries including gardens nominated by neighbors or friends. In late July, five judges selected by the committee viewed and evaluated each garden. Winners were selected based on the following criteria: Must be visible from the street Is interesting and appealing Is well tended Has pleasing combinations of plant materials Is remarkable for its design or originality Enhances the look of the neighborhood
The 2010 Garden Contest winners are:
1st place Susan Diederich, 9446 Jackson Avenue
2nd place Eleanor and Joe Byrne, 3800 Harrison Avenue
3rd place Mary Mitchell, 3639 Kemman Avenue
The winners will be honored with a formal presentation by the President of Brookfield, Michael Garvey at the Monday, August 9th Village board meeting at 6:30 pm. Each winner will be presented with a certificate acknowledging their accomplishment. In addition, a temporary lawn sign indicating their placement as a winner has been installed in each winner's front yard.
