In the November 14th film, John Wayne portrays an American boxer who finds love and conflict when he returns to the village in Ireland where he was born. Dinner of Irish stew will be sold by Irish Times Pub & Restaurant. Contact the Recreation Department at 708-485-1528 for more information.
Admission to the movie is free and no registration is required. Dinner is optional and can be purchased beginning at 6 pm. Doors open at 6 pm and movies begin at 6:30 pm.
Veteran's Day Ceremony
There will be a ceremony on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Park in Brookfield.
Monster's on Mainstreet
MONSTERS INVADE MAINSTREET!!
Mark your calendars…Saturday, October 25, 2008 is Brookfield’s Tenth Annual “Monsters on Mainstreet” downtown Trick or Treat. Last years event drew nearly 1500 people downtown!! This years event is once again sponsored by the Brookfield Historical Society and the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce, and includes trick or treating in the Grand Blvd. and Broadway business districts from 12:00PM—3:00PM. Participating businesses will have a special Halloween pumpkin sign in their window, designating them as a “Monsters on Mainstreet” location where the children are welcome to trick or treat. This will be followed by refreshments, pumpkin and taffy apple give-a-ways, and a costume contest at the Brookfield Historical Society’s Grossdale Station, 8820½ Brookfield Avenue. Free taffy apples and pumpkins to the first 500 costumed Trick or Treaters, beginning at 2:30 pm. The Costume Contest will have categories for Scariest, Funniest, and Most Creative in 4 different age groups, and begins about 3:00 pm. Adults are welcome to participate too!
