BNSF CONSTRUCTION ALERT

Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad Construction Work:

 

BNSF will be doing some welding on switches at the Congress Park Station.  This work must be done when traffic is minimal.  BNSF will be working this week, Sunday - Thursday, from 7pm - 3am.  Welding won't make much noise, however, the trains will have to sound their whistles as a safety precaution when they pass by the workers. 

 

BNSF thanks you for understanding that this critical work must be done.

Village of Brookfield and IAFF 4828 Agree to Three-Year Contract

 

Brookfield, IL - The Village of Brookfield and the members of International Association of Fire Fighters Local 4828, representing Village of Brookfield Fire Department personnel, jointly announced today that they have agreed to a contract resulting in both salary increases and modified insurance contributions for a three-year period ending in 2013.  Both the members of Local 4828 and the Village management team believe the agreement helps the Village better prepare for long term financial planning while protecting the integrity of services provided by the Fire Department and safety of the Department personnel.

 

Over the past three months both parties have worked together in to find avenues to work together and negotiations were productive and amicable.  “The goals of the management team and the Village Board is to provide a strong working environment for the employees and appropriate compensation for the work they do to serve the Village residents everyday,” said Village Manager Riccardo Ginex. 

 

The Village Board of Trustees concurred with the outcome of the successful negotiations, approving the collective bargaining agreement in a unanimous vote on Monday night.  Village President Michael Garvey noted, “The Fire Department personnel are employees that we count on every single day to keep our residents, thousands of visitors, structures, and village safe.  This agreement shows the cooperation of all of our employees exhibit every day to move the Village forward even in difficult economic times.”

 

Brad Pacyga, President of the local IAFF chapter stated, “I am very pleased that we are able to work together to reach this agreement which helps both our members and the Village in a difficult economic times and ensures exiting levels of service are protected.”

 

The agreement includes a 2.5, 2.5, and 2.0 percent increase in salary for 2011, 2012, and 2013 respectively while increasing the employee portion of health insurance costs from a 90/10 match to an 82.5/12.5 match in 2011 and a 85/15 match in years 2012 and 2013.
